Piers Morgan says Phillip Schofield ‘will be back’ but is ‘struggling’ after scandal

Piers Morgan has claimed Phillip Schofield “will be back” but is “struggling” in the wake of his ITV affair and scandal.

The former This Morning host, 61, who fronted the ITV show for over two decades, has been all over the headlines these past months.

In May he admitted to having an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger male colleague and ended up parting ways with ITV and his management company.

And now, his pal and former ITV star Piers has spoken out as Phillip continues to keep a low profile following his scandal.

Speaking to The Sun at The TRIC Awards, Piers said: “I’ve been in touch with Phillip and I think he’s struggling. It’s tough to leave any big job, let alone when it’s a big scandal.”

He added: “But he’ll be back. I think he can bounce back. I think the more its gone on, the more people are thinking, what exactly did he do that was so heinous.

Piers has said Phillip is ‘struggling’

“Unless a crime was committed or unless the other party involved decides to contradict something that Phillip is saying, you take it for what it is. I’m not entirely sure why the world went completely nuts.”

Piers, who left Good Morning Britain in 2021 and moved to TalkTV, went on to praise Phillip for being “honest” about his mistake.

He also admitted how he “feels” for the dad-of-two on a “human level”.

Phillip recently rushed to the bedside of his mother after the 87-year-old reportedly fell seriously ill.

He sought support from his mum, Pat, last month when he fled to Cornwall in the wake of his scandal.

But this week, it was reported Phillip’s mum had fallen ill and was being treated for an unknown condition at a hospital in Cornwall for several days.

A TV insider said: “Given the stress Phillip has been through in recent weeks, this couldn’t have come at a worse time for the family.

“Given that his mother was the woman Phillip turned to in his hour of need, her illness is a particularly cruel twist of fate.”

The source added to The Sun: “He adores his mother and the whole family is trying to remain hopeful and keep faith that Pat will make a full recovery.”
