A real-life exorcist has claimed that entities outside of horror films like The Possession and The Pope’s Exorcist are “much more insidious” than we see on-screen.
Rachel Stavis, a Hollywood exorcist who works as a spiritual healer to the stars, explained exclusively to Daily Star that so-called “entities” or spirits can be as innocuous as leeches, or as terrifying as horror film demons. But the worst part is, victims don’t actually realise they’ve an “attachment” to one until it’s too late.
Rachel laid out the four most common “species” of entity she encounters in her practice – Clives, Wraiths, Tricksters and Realm-Walkers. She said: “The easiest things people get are Clives, which are the smallest. Those attach here and there like leeches, and people don’t realise they have them.

“They work as amplifiers – if you’re sad, you feel more depressed; if you’re angry, it turns to rage. Those are the ones people can pick up and release without ever knowing they have them. They don’t cause that much trouble! But moving towards the more malignant, the more intelligent…
“We have Wraiths – they cause night terrors and sleep paralysis. Those are usually attached to some form of sexual trauma; that’s what I see in my practice the most, unfortunately. Then we move up to Tricksters, which are the ones that form a symbiotic relationship with their host – they show up as imaginary friends, deceased loved ones, or sometimes archangels.
“Then we move all the way up to Realm-Walkers, which are I guess what people consider the devil, but there are more than one on the planet. They can hold both people and spaces – they’re the more movie-style ones. They can do all the weird stuff you see in movies.”
But it’s not common to find Realm-Walkers out in the open, Rachel says. Keen to clear up some of the misconceptions surrounding Hollywood horror, she said: “I’m not a priest. It’s not just Catholic or Christian people who deal with this, it’s everybody.
“Horror films are an extreme case, that movie-style entity – they can happen, but people are walking around with things that are much more insidious than that. That’s the difference: people think possession or attachment always looks like that, but that’s not true at all.

“People are walking around with things they don’t even know they have because an entity is interested in feeding, and it’s much easier to do that when someone is unconscious about it. Someone could have entity attachment for years and years of their life and not be dead or dying, but just feeling off, or constantly tired. It could be so many little things that you don’t realise at all.”
