Ruth Langsford teases This Morning return after brutal axe — but on one condition only

Ruth Langsford has revealed she would “probably” return to This Morning – but only on certain conditions.

The TV favourite co-hosted the ITV show for 15 years, alongside husband Eamonn Holmes. However in 2021, the pair were kicked off their usual Friday slot in favour of Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

Since then, Eamonn, who now hosts GB News, has made it perfectly clear on how he feels about their boot from the show. No stranger to airing his thoughts, the TV veteran has often criticised ITV in the media.

Ruth, meanwhile, has remained somewhat impartial on the matter. She has continued with her role on Loose Women and even returned to host This Morning with Rylan Clark last summer.

But now, following Holly Willoughby’s shock exit from This Morning after 15 years, reports have emerged that Ruth could be replacing her. Holly confirmed that she will not be returning to the famous blue sofa in an emotional message to fans this month.

Addressing the rumours, Ruth said: “I laughed when I saw that report. I have no idea where these things come from.” However, she suggested that a less permanent comeback could be on the cards.

She added to Woman&Home: “I don’t have to ask Eamonn’s permission to do anything, or for him me, so if ITV said, ‘Would you come and do a week on This Morning?’ and if I was free and it was with the right person, I probably would do it.”

Eamonn, who is suffering from chronic health issues, has made it no secret that there is a bit of bad blood with ITV. In April, he took another swipe at his old broadcaster.

The presenter replied to a social media post from a fan who made a blatant dig at This Morning. It read: “I personally think This Morning has gone down hill since they got rid of Ruth and Eamonn.”

Eamonn simply replied: “And who am I to argue?” He didn’t stop there though, as he hit the “like” button on a number of other posts which were criticising This Morning too.

One read: “Absolutely rubbish that show since Eamonn and Ruth left, I stopped watching it totally.” A second said: “I don’t watch these days – it’s just too annoying for me.”
