SAS hero Chris Ryan offers Lewis Capaldi camping trip boost after Glastonbury heartbreak

SAS hero Chris Ryan has offered to take Lewis Capaldi camping to beat his health issues.

The singer, who has Tourette’s, struggled to complete his set at Glastonbury – but the crowd helped him by singing his lyrics.

Now Bravo Two Zero veteran Chris, 62, who has suffered with PTSD, has pledged to help.

He believes taking the singer on a back-to-basics trip could be a boost for the 26-year-old Scot.

He said: “Love this lad, and happy to sit and chat with him any day or indeed just listen to him chat away. Give me him for 14 days, no cameras, no story deals, no documentaries, just you and me.

“Free advice – stop wondering and look inward. Resources don’t help people, people help people!”

After Glastonbury, Lewis released a heartfelt statement to his fans to say he would be taking an extended break from performing.

He began by greeting everyone before saying: “First of all, thank you to Glastonbury for having me, for singing along when I needed it and for all the amazing messages afterwards. It really does mean the world.”

“The fact that this probably won’t come as a surprise doesn’t make it any easier to write, but I’m very sorry to let you know I’m going to be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future.”

He continued on to say that he “used to be able to enjoy every second of shows like this” and had hoped that “three weeks away would sort him out”.

However, Lewis noted that “the truth is he’s still learning to adjust to the impact of his Tourette’s” and during his performance on Saturday, it became clear to him that “he needs to spend much more time getting his mental and physical health in order”.

Capaldi hopes that after he’s managed this, he “can keep doing everything he loves for a long time to come”.

Lewis continued: “I know I’m incredibly fortunate to be able to take some time out when others can’t and I’d like to thank my amazing family, friends, team, medical professionals and all of you who’ve been so supportive, every step of the way, through the good times and even more so during this past year when I’ve needed it more than ever.”

He then issued another heartfelt apology to his fans and “everyone who had planned to come to a show before the end of the year,” but Lewis explained he “needs to feel well to perform at the standard they all deserve”.

“Playing for you every night is all I’ve ever dreamed of so this has been the most difficult decision of my life. I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can [red heart emoji]. All my love, always, Lewis x”

Capaldi wrote the message in white text against a black background and uploaded the image with the caption: “Hi x”
