Scott Baio sells £3m mansion blaming ‘homeless’ but critics say ‘Good riddance Chachi’

Scott Baio announced he’ll be leaving behind his £3m California mansion after blaming the homeless for making the area “not safe” and devaluing his property.

The former Hollywood star, 62, announced that he’d make his great escape from the Golden State after 45 years.

Scott blamed LA’s homelessness crisis for his grand “exit” from his five bed property in Woodland Hills, last Wednesday.

The actor rose to fame in the Hollywood hills in Happy Days, playing the younger cousin of Fonzie, Chachi Arcola between 1977 and 1984.

But now, he’s making a beeline for LA’s border, claiming that homelessness is “bring[ing] down property value” and that “it’s just not a safe place anymore”.

Scott Tweeted: “After 45 years, I’m making my way to finally ‘exit stage right’ from California.”

He reportedly listed the property last month for a staggering $3.85m (£3m), according to Realtor.com.

A clearly-shaken Scott shared LA’s homelessness stats on Twitter, adding: “The most recent survey conducted by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority found approximately 69,000 people experiencing homelessness in L.A. County and 41,000 in the city in 2022.”

The Joanie Loves Chachi star’s “right wing views” certainly caused a stir across social media, as Twitter users clapped back at his comments.

One person replied: “As a [formerly] homeless person I am happy to hear that you’re leaving California. Maybe you can go live in Florida, seems like your kind of zoo.”

Another added: “Good riddance Chachi! We all forgot about you anyway!”

Quick-witted Scott replied: “Literally, you did not! You’re still here tweeting publicly to me!”

After being dubbed by haters as “superficial”, he hit back and wrote: “This brings down property value.

“Also no consequences for crime that is rampant, making things higher in price and it’s just not a safe place anymore.”

Scott is just one of the long list of celebrities who have fled California, including Joe Rogan, Mark Wahlberg and Matthew McConaughey.

Around 500,000 California reportedly residents left the state between April 2020 and July 2022.
