Sean Lock said he ‘hated Russell Brand’ and had ‘fear’ in resurfaced clip

A clip of comedian Sean Lock calling out Russell Brand for his behaviours has resurfaced online.

As various stand-up stars voice their true opinions of the disgraced presenter and comedian, fans have praised Lock for his comments on Brand in 2014.

The late comedian, who died in August 2021, was appearing on 8 Out of 10 Cats nine years ago when he made the remarks.

In the clip, host Jimmy Carr was moderating a discussion about Russell Brand, who had appeared at a demonstration against capitalism in London.

Sean was a regular team captain on the Channel 4 comedy panel show, and was joined by fellow comedian Romesh Ranganathan and singer Mel C.

Whilst discussing Russell, who had left the UK to pursue his career in the States, Sean did not hold back for his disdain for Brand.

Lock said that he had a “fear” of someone like the comedian coming home with his daughter.

“Probably the reason I hate him so much is because I’m a dad and I’ve got this fear that one day my daughters will bring something like that home,” he quipped at the time.

He added that he believed his appearance at the protests in 2014 was a “publicity stunt” for his book.

It came just weeks after Brand had also called on the public not to vote to disrupt political systems, but had to retract his statements.

“He’s back-pedalled so much now, he started out saying ‘Don’t vote, it’s stupid, pointless to vote’,” Lock said.

“And him saying stuff to people who disaffected already and aren’t engaged with political process is the most moronic, self-serving, pathetic bit of attention-seeking w**k that has ever been”.

Brand is in the midst of several allegations of rape, sexual abuse and physical assault after Channel 4, working with The Times, published a huge exposé on the former Big Brother’s Big Mouth host.

Russell strongly denies the “very serious and criminal allegations” made against him.

Defending himself on his Youtube channel before his platform was taken down, he said in a statement: “These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies.

“And as I’ve written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous. Now, during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual”.
