Shaun Ryder forced to pull out of I’m A Celeb South Africa trials due to health issues

Shaun Ryder had to be ruled out of a string of challenges for the all stars series of I’m A Celebrity.

The Happy Mondays frontman, 60, is battling crippling hip pain after years on the road.

Medics warned the star could not take part in anything that put his health at risk on the series in South Africa.

Shaun was left devastated by the ruling because he loved doing physically-demanding stunts when he starred on the hit show in 2010.

He recalled: “I can remember having the best buzz when I jumped out of the plane. Yes, I was very scared, but I enjoyed it a lot.

“Sadly, there will be no more helicopters for me now because I’ve got issues with my hip.”

It could mean his rival campmates face extra horror challenges.

Shaun also admits fans won’t see him helping much with the cooking.

Before entering camp, he said: “I haven’t got the skills to boil an egg, let alone take on the South African jungle.

“I don’t learn anything because I don’t retain anything. That’s my problem!”

Shaun was voted runner-up when he competed on the show years ago.

The star signed up for another go in the hope of winning this time.

He said: “It would be nice to win this I’m A Celebrity series. It is always nice to win something, but I feel very honoured to be part of the show.
