Sinead O’Connor nearly finished new album before tragic death and planned to tour

Sinead O’Connor was just one song away from finishing a new album when she died.

The music legend had been working on new material with acclaimed producer David Holmes and was set to tour.

After meeting at Shane Magowan’s 60th in 2018, the pair hit it off and had eight tracks in the can.

David said: “We only had one track to record. But the eight tracks we finished, each one as powerful as the next.

“I really felt that I was in the presence of greatness like a Nina Simone, Billie Holiday or Karen Dalton – a giant in popular music.

“But what made her so special was her fearlessness and honesty not only as an artist but as a human being.”

Fans are in mourning over her death, aged 56, on Wednesday (July 26).

Neighbours of the late star claim the Nothing Compares 2 U star was seen “smiling and happy” in the days prior to her death.

Farath Moragammanage, who lives nearby, said she had seen Sinead around the same time as the tweets – seemingly in good spirits, however.

The shocked neighbour told Ma ilOnline: “I last saw her about two weeks ago.

“She seemed happy and was smiling and waved. She was with a friend and she said she was going to Brixton with a friend from Ireland.

“She told me she was a famous singer and she must have moved in about weeks six weeks or so ago. She was living there on her own.

“Around 5pm on Wednesday I saw a private ambulance turn up and it was there for a few hours before leaving. I didn’t make the connection until I saw the news and realised it was my neighbour. It’s so sad. I feel so sorry for her.”

Another local resident commented: “I would often see her on the street smoking a cigarette and we would exchange a few words every now and then.”

Sinead had reportedly only moved back to London at the beginning of July and called it her “home”, even showing fans her lovely new flat in videos posted on social media.
