Strictly's Will Mellor 'put tracker' on daughter's phone after filming crime show

Strictly Come Dancing finalist Will Mellor has admitted to putting a tracker on his daughter’s phone after working on his latest TV project.

Will took to ITV’s Lorraine to discuss his upcoming true crime series, Cops Who Kill, where he will be joined by experts to investigate killer cops, including Wayne Couzens.

In the show, he explores the devious way perpetrators use their extensive police training to prey on their victims, leaving Will feeling “physically sick”, especially in light of Sarah Everard’s murder.

The 46-year-old explained why he went to the extreme lengths of tracking his daughter’s phone.

“It’s because we can find out where she is and she can call us if there are any issues, but there is ways now of seeing where your kids are on the phones,” he told presenter Lorraine Kelly.

Will says technology can really help

“I said to her, ‘It’s not because we don’t trust you, but we know where you are if anything does happen,'” he added. “Technology can help in that way.”

Elsewhere, Will confirmed he wasn’t spying on his daughter but finds it important to “protect their innocence”.

“It’s so important, I said to her, ‘I’m not spying on you but if anything happens, I know where you are,’

“I am protective of people but my kids are my world and you just want to protect innocence,” he revealed.

Will shares children 18-year-old Jayden and 14-year-old Renee, with his wife Michelle McSween.

The first installment of Will’s crime series launches on Monday 6th March, the same day Couzens, 50, is due to be sentenced for three counts of indecent exposure.

Will told the Mirror that thinking of how terrified Sarah Everard, who was murdered by Wayne in 2021 as she walked home from a friend’s house, made him feel “physically sick.”

“The thought of how terrified Sarah must have been makes me feel physically sick. The pure horror of what was to come must have dawned on her as they drove,” he said.
