Viewers of The Chase were left in shock on Thursday evening (July 27) as a contestant bore an uncanny resemblance to Labour MP, Diane Abbott.
Veronica, a recruitment consultant from Upminster, Essex was the third guest to take on Chaser, Paul “The Sinnerman” Sinha on the ITV show hosted by Bradley Walsh.
Asked by Bradley how she would spend any potential winnings, self-proclaimed Arsenal fan and Pilates enthusiast Veronica revealed: “Living in Essex I don’t have that Essex smile. So I need to sort my teeth out and get some veneers.”

“Fair enough – let’s get your teeth sorted,” the host replied.
Veronica struggled, however, answering just four questions correctly in one minute to earn £4,000 to play with against Sinha.
With the chance to add a high-risk £40,000 sum and a much easier £1,000 to the group’s prize fund, Veronica opted to stick with the £4,000 after conferring with her fellow contestants.
Sinha made light work of catching her, however, after she answered all four of her questions wrongly.

Following her appearance several fans took to Twitter to compare Veronica to her politician doppelgänger.
“#TheChase Veronica looks like Diane Abbot,” one user declared.
Another questioned: “F*** me, is that Diane Abbot in seat 3? #thechase.”
A third simply added: “Diane Abbot Klaxon. #thechase.”
And a fourth responded: “As I’m late to the party I’ve just realised everyone thought the same.”
The ‘real’ Diane Abbott appeared on a celebrity instalment of the show way back in 2013, meanwhile.
In doing so, the MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington pocketed £1,000 for the Sickle Cell Charity thanks to a generous donation from Walsh.
Abbott appeared alongside Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke, former footballer Matt Le Tissier, and TV personality Denise Van Outen.
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 5pm
