The Chase’s Bradley Walsh admits ‘that never happens’ as he’s floored by player

The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh was floored just minutes into the latest edition of the ITV quiz show.

During Wednesday’s episode (May 24) of the hit programme, the former Coronation Street star welcomed Julie, Cameron, Sue and Darren who were ready to put their knowledge to the test.

First up to face chaser Mark Labbett was 57-year-old Julie who left Bradley speechless following her impressive performance in the cash builder round.

The PHD student managed to bag a whopping £10,000, a figure rarely seen so early on in the competition.

As Julie assumed she’d answered five questions right, the 62-year-old host shared her actual score, adding: “That very rarely happens. Absolutely brilliant.”

As The Beast stepped out in front of Julie, he gave her a round of applause, saying: “10 is a pretty good score. Best chaser gets the best teams so lets get on with it.”

The Enfield-born player rejected the 57-year-old’s tempting offer of £60,000 and decided to stick with her £10,000.

After sailing through to the final chase, Bradley branded Julie a “seriously good player” as Mark chimed in: “You’re a great quizzer but the other three, I’d ignore everything she’s said. She’s just cost you £60,000 because she’s a chicken!”

Following on strong was Cameron, who also had an incredibly successful first round after bringing back a solid £9,000.

“£19,000 for two!” Bradley exclaimed. “I can’t remember the last time that happened.”

But unfortunately for the 27-year-old, his luck ran out as he was comfortably caught by the beast.

Things appeared to be heading in a similar direction as Sue got up to £6,000 in her cash builder.

Sticking with this offer and heading into the final chase, the 61-year-old brought the team’s total up to £16,000.

The final contestant to take on The Beast was Darren who raised £5,000.

But instead of sticking with his original total, the 35-year-old stunned Bradley and his teammates when he opted to take the high offer of £74,000.

In the nail-biting round, Darren managed to bring the hefty sum back to the team, taking their total up to a jaw-dropping £90,000.

Despite their impressive performances, the team only managed to score 16 between the three of them in the final chase.

In a devastating blow, The Beast caught the team with just nine seconds to spare.
