The One Show host Roman Kemp left fuming at I’m A Celeb South Africa snub

The One Show faced an awkward moment on Monday’s episode (April 17) after host Roman Kemp revealed he “missed the invite” to the new I’m A Celeb South Africa series.

Joining Roman and co-host Alex Jones on the famous BBC One sofa was I’m A Celeb stars Carol Vorderman and Jordan Banjo.

But things took a slightly awkward turn when Roman appeared to be a tad bitter when he revealed he wasn’t asked back for the new series.

When asked why they decided to do the show again, Carol said: “I loved it, and me and Jordan were in the same series, back in 2016.”

She then pointed to Roman and added: “And you were in three years later.”

“Yeah in 2019, I was indeed. Just missed the invite,” he quipped, looking rather souther-faced.

His guests erupted into laughter, with Roman adding how he was “waiting by the phone” when the full line-up was announced.

And Carol, never one to hold her tongue, fired back with: “Soz!”

Roman claimed he was snubbed from I’m A Celeb

Moving swiftly on, Roman said: “This time around Carol, you’re in South Africa, how is it different?”

She replied: “Obviously it’s a different setting, but the trials are then some! They are brutal, and to get rid of people it’s head-to-head trials, so it’s competitive.”

The brand new version of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! kicks off on ITV1 and ITVX in less than two weeks, with hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly back at the helm.

But rather than a bunch of nervous celebrities taking part, the cast for this series are all past contestants – and it seems they’ve got something to prove.

The full cast was announced earlier this year, with Helen, Carol, Shaun, and Paul also joined by Amir Khan, Fatima Whitbread, Janice Dickinson, Jordan Banjo, and Phil Tufnell.

In a brand new teaser trailer, the celebrities, including Countdown whizz Carol, soap beauty Helen and Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell can be seen heading to the South African camp.
