The Wire actor Al Brown has tragically died after a battle with Alzheimer’s age 83.
His daughter announced the news online to alert friends and fans.
The star was best known for playing Col. Stan Valchek on the hit show between 2002 and 2008.

His daughter Jenny shared that the famous actor passed away in Las Vegas on January 13.
She wrote online how he “loved fans of his and was happy to stop and chat with anyone who might’ve recognised him from the show over the years”.
The late screen star appeared in all five seasons as Valchek but was most involved in the second season.
His daughter added that he “loved his job,” while talking to TMZ.
She also revealed how her father had been an Air Force veteran and did two tours in Vietnam.
The actor also featured in other TV shows such as Forensic Files, Law & Order: SVU, Rescue Me, Maron, Commander in Chief, The Hustler, amongst other shows.
Al also had a successful film career and starred in TV films such as Shot in the Heart, The Adversaries, and Something the Lord Made.
He was also cast in feature films including Liberty Heights, 12 Monkeys, Lay the Favorite, and Red Dragon.
Fans of the star took to Twitter to share their support and condolences for Al.
One tweeted: “Always loved watching him. Will continue to celebrate him on Twitter and my Wire FB group. I followed his FB page and always sent well wishes to him. “
A second added: “R.I.P such a great character. Never a dull moment.”
While a third penned: “RIP His last scene on The Wire just makes me laugh in an ironic way. Al Brown acted Valchek brilliantly. Never a dull moment.”
Another wrote: “It’s really nice to read all these nice comments. Al was my brother-in-law. He was a kind man..”
