This Morning viewers couldn’t hide their delight on Wednesday morning (August 16) as Steve Jones made his debut on the show alongside co-presenter Josie Gibson.
The 46-year old said it was a “great honour” to front the ITV show for the first time, whilst regular host Holly Willoughby takes a summer break from her duties.
Welshman Steve rose to fame in 2003 as the presenter of Channel 4’s entertainment programme, T4, before he went on to present the X Factor USA and most recently 4’s Formula One.

At the beginning of the instalment Josie offered Steve “a big warm welcome” before revealing her excitement at working with him.
Steve then expressed his delight at the role, explaining: “I can’t quite believe I’m here – I’ve been watching the show in some shape or form pretty much all my life.”
He continued: “It’s a great honour to be here so thank you for having me.”
Asked by Big Brother winner Josie what it felt like to hear the show’s music, Steve responded: “Well it’s iconic isn’t it? You suddenly feel like a This Morning presenter – although I was thinking I used to present a show called T4 and This Morning is essentially T4 for grown-ups.
“I’m a grown man myself now so I’m pretty cool about being here. I’m a big boy!”
Fans instantly took to social media to show their approval at Steve’s appointment, with many pointing out the chemistry between the co-presenting pair.
One commented: “The Steve Jones and Josie Gibson combo looks natural to me. Chemistry happening methinks. This needs further exploration, could be a ratings winner. You need one. Steve Jones is a safe pair of hands. Competition for Dermot! There’s an idea, two men double hander.”
Another added: “Steve Jones is doing a great job so far and he should be the perfect fit: natural, authoritative, warm, funny, good looking. I just feel that the show desperately needs to grow a new identity and needs somebody a little more left field. New feel, new set, new start.”
A third penned: “I’d forgotten what a great TV presenter Steve Jones is. Actually – I’m not sure I ever realised! Great addition to This Morning and his Josie partnership already feels natural.”

There has been more good news for the show as it was revealed that it has made it onto the shortlist in the Daytime category at the National Television Awards.
It will battle it out with The Chase, Loose Women and The Repair Shop for the prize.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
