This Morning’s future is “hanging in the balance” after Phillip Schofield’s sensational exit from ITV, according to an expert.
And host Holly Willoughby might have to ditch the ITV show and front a new show for the broadcaster, claims PR expert Andy Barr, CEO of 10 Yetis Digital.
In case you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past couple of weeks, ITV’s This Morning has been at the centre of a media storm ever since its former host Phillip admitted to an affair with a younger male colleague.

Phillip revealed he had an “unwise but not illegal” affair with the runner while still married to his wife – and lied to his wife, friends and colleagues about it.
His former co-host Holly Willoughby returned to host This Morning on Monday (June 5) with Josie Gibson after Phil’s ITV exit and told viewers she felt “shaken”, “troubled” and “let down” by Phillip.
She’s since been hosting with Josie and Craig Doyle, who have been stepping in for the time being, with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary hosting on Fridays as usual.
Speaking to Daily Star before Holly’s explosive speech, Andy explained that everything is “hanging in the balance” at ITV and that it might be best for Holly to host a new show rather than This Morning.
Asked whether Holly could leave ITV, he insisted it wasn’t likely and that it’s best for her to stay at the broadcaster to maintain her profile.
He said: “I don’t think ITV will be too scared about her potentially leaving. Holly really has little choice but to stick with ITV if she wants to keep her profile high in the UK.
“The BBC won’t want to hire her whilst everything is still up in the air and Channel 4 won’t have the budget.
“She doesn’t quite yet have the global appeal for one of the giant streaming platforms to come in for her so a new show with ITV is probably her best option for now.”
He went on to say that as it stands, This Morning’s future is extremely uncertain, but Holly’s speech could give the studio a much-needed boost.
“This could all change overnight if it turns out that her impassioned speech on the show goes on to save This Morning,” Andy said.
“Right now though, with ITV shares trading down by around 1%, everything hangs in the balance for the future of This Morning.”
