Upon seeing pictures of her funeral cortege in the town of Bray, he explained: “I lived just up the road from her and we swim in that sea every day.

“It’s a very special place Bray, it’s a very tight community and she was very much a part of it. And apparently yesterday it was just so, so emotional and they all broke into song.”

“We live just on a hillside looking down on the little town of Bray and Ireland and my wife sent me this photograph last night as the sun set.

“They shone a light into the sky from Bray. It’s actually a really emotional photograph to look at. And that’s just her, just a little message to her wherever she is.”

Josie halted the show as she asked: “Aw are you alright Matthew?” as he tried to continue, thinking that she couldn’t hear him in the studio.

Josie then checked on him for a second time, saying: “I just wondered if you were alright, I can see you’re a bit…”

He told viewers: “My wife played for me an interview I did with Sinead.

“Gosh it must have been 10 or 12 years ago, and i actually forgotten the rapport we had.”

With a quivering voice and also holding back tears, he admitted: “Seeing the photos, It’s just … yeah. It Hit’s to me a bit, I’m sorry.”
