Tina Turner bid an ’emotional farewell’ to her loyal fans months before her sad death

Legendary songstress Tina Tuner tragically passed away today (May 24) at the age of 83.

The iconic hitmaker died after suffering from a long illness at her home near Zurich in the heart of Switzerland.

In 2021 Tina bid an emotional farewell to her fans in a brand new documentary about her life.

The documentary explained how the singer had to overcome a troubled past but finally found happiness.

The documentary’s release came at the same time as the news of Tina’s ill health, which included a stroke and a battle with cancer as well as kidney failure which led to her needing a transplant in 2017.

In the candid documentary, the star said: “The good did not balance the bad.

“I had an abusive life, there’s no other way to tell the story. It’s a reality. It’s a truth. That’s what you’ve got, so you have to accept it.

“Some people say the life that I lived and the performances that I gave, the appreciation, is blasting with the people.

“And yeah, I should be proud of that. I am. But when do you stop being proud? I mean, when do you, how do you bow out slowly? Just go away?”

The rock and roll star’s death was confirmed today, and fans bid farewell to the iconic star.

A statement released by her representatives read: “Tina Turner, the Queen of Rock and Roll, has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.

“With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.

“Tina Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939, in Nutbush, Tennessee, USA.

“She became famous in the late 60s as the singer of the band Ike & Tina Turner Revue, but later she became successful worldwide as a solo artist.

“With her music and her inexhaustible vitality, Tina Turner thrilled millions of fans and inspired many artists of subsequent generations.”
