Tipping Point fans says same thing as contestants confuse famous poet with Homer Simpson

Fans of ITV’s Tipping Point couldn’t contain their laughter during the latest episode after two players appeared to confuse Greek poet Homer with the cartoon character Homer Simpson.

In the repeated episode which aired on Tuesday afternoon (July 4), contestants Dom and Linzi managed to beat their opponents and sailed straight through to the penultimate round.

But during their head-to-head, presenter Ben Shephard asked Linzi: “In his epic poems, Homer often refers to nectar as the drink of the gods and which other substance as their food?”

Unsure, Linzi quickly handed the question over to Dom, who replied with the answer “Donoughts”.

Nodding in agreeance, Linzi said she would have definitely said the same thing.

Ben Shephard struggled to hold back his laughter

Giggling at the pair, Ben said he’ll ask the question again to ensure they understood.

However once they realised that Ben was referring to the poet, the pair looked shocked which left fans at home in hysterics.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: “One of the greatest moments on TV.”

Another laughed: “The Homer question on #Tippingpoint will never ever get old.”

A third penned: “Some of the best comedy is inadvertent as proven by the #tippingpoint contestant who thought that Homer claimed in his epic poems that the food of the gods is doughnuts.”

While a fourth chimed: “‘In his epic poem, Homer refers to nectar as the drink of the gods and which other substance as their food?’ Contestant ‘doughnuts’. Ben looked as if he was going to choke!”

After Dom and Linzi laughed at their mishap, Ben revealed that the answer was in fact Ambrosia.

However this wasn’t the only blunder the contestants encountered while on the show.

Before the epic doughnut moment, Ben asked Linzi: “The one dollar coin of New Zealand features an image of which flightless bird.”

Quickly handing the question over to Dom, the player then went for the penguin as the flightless bird.

Again, Linzi agreed that she would have also said the same thing.

But they were both left stunned when Ben revealed that the answer was kiwi.
