Vanessa Feltz defends ‘toxic’ This Morning and shares text from ‘sweet’ Holly Willoughby

This Morning has come under enormous scrutiny since the revelation of Phillip Schofield’s affair with a younger male colleague, but Vanessa Feltz has defended the show.

Presenters such as Eamonn Holmes have since accused Phil and co-star Holly Willoughby of being rude or distant on set, but TalkTV host Vanessa has taken the opposite stance.

She said that This Morning isn’t “toxic” and denied that everyone at ITV knew about the affair, which prompted Schofield to leave ITV.

Vanessa said: “I’ve never seen anything toxic in my life – and that’s the truth!”

She continued: “I’ve never seen, heard anything! Anything other than just nice people being nice. I’m not just saying that. I would tell the truth. Even last week, or the week before, I didn’t see anything.

“It’s come as a big shock to me, and I think to lots of contributors. People who say, ‘Everyone knew’ – it’s not true. It’s absolute rubbish!”

“I’ve always been good friends with Holly and Phil; I’ve been on that show for years and years. I just feel very sorry for anybody who’s been hurt or implicated in what’s happened.”

Vanessa Feltz likes Holly and said the ITV star comforted her

She touched on her relationship with Holly Willoughby in depth, explaining that the presenter comforted her after she alleged that Rolf Harris sexually assaulted her during an interview.

She told OK Magazine: “I got a message from Holly just saying, ‘Are you OK? It must be really hard for you to talk about it. Are you alright?’.”

However, not everyone is so supportive of Holly and those such as Kim Woodburn have come forward to claim that she isn’t very nice behind the scenes.

Speaking on GB News, the popular figure said: “The show itself has a horrible atmosphere, I went on there three or four times, and the atmosphere is shocking with those two. You can’t put your finger on it.

“They’re both cocky. She sits there like she’s got the world at her feet, like there’s ‘nothing you can do to offend me’.

“He’s there giving out digs and being very rude, and several nice people who’ve been on there, much more placid than me, have said, ‘Kim, when you go on that set, you feel awful. The atmosphere is shocking. He’s rude and nasty. It doesn’t let her off the hook.”
