William Shatner fans beg ‘let me know you’re okay’ amid lengthy social media silence

William Shatner has worried fans after a lengthy silence on X (formerly Twitter) – with one begging him “let me know you’re okay”.

The Star Trek icon, who usually maintains an active social media presence, has been relatively silent this month, not posting anything at all between August 9 and August 14.

It’s a definite change of routine for the actor, who usually pens several posts per day.

And one fan was left so worried that they penned: “How are you, Mr Shatner? Any chance of a thumbs up to let me know you’re okay?”

Bill then did reply with a thumbs-up emoji – but didn’t say anything more.

Other fans were equally concerned, as one wrote: “Where is William Shatner?” and another penned: “[OP] took the question right out of my head. I have been wondering where you were, Mr Shatner.

“Glad to see your thumb is still working! There are many people worldwide who like to hear how you’re doing.”

Somebody else agreed: “I’m glad I saw this I was just thinking about that today… he’s been so quiet.”

It comes after Shatner opened up on reports of his “impending demise” after the 92-year-old confessed he “doesn’t have long left” to live.

Speaking about a documentary into his life, he explained to Variety: “I’ve turned down a lot of offers to do documentaries before. But I don’t have long to live.

“Whether I keel over as I’m speaking to you or 10 years from now, my time is limited, so that’s very much a factor.

“I’ve got grandchildren. This documentary is a way of reaching out after I die.”

But the star said reports were “greatly exaggerated”, explaining: “All I meant was that I’m not going to live forever (though I am going to make a valiant attempt!) and the documentary I did is for future generations and descendants to know a bit about me.”

Bill confirmed he wonders at being “still alive” each morning.

He said: “I think getting out of bed every morning and breathing… I am, like, ‘Wow’. I am a legend, I am breathing and I am still alive.”
