It’s officially the season of spooks and with Halloween just around the corner, there’s ample time to indulge in a marathon of horror films to set the mood.
This October is set to witness the release of several new spine-chilling movies, promising a real treat for horror enthusiasts with this year’s selection of eerily excellent films.
The third instalment of the Terrifier series is on its way, along with Smile 2 and The Front Room, featuring Brandy Norwood. Let’s delve into each of these films to bring you up to speed….
Terrifier 3
The third chapter of the franchise features Sienna Shaw (portrayed by Lauren LaVera) striving to reconstruct her life while Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) relentlessly pursues her, aided by his new partner in crime Victoria Heyes (Samantha Scaffidi), reports the Mirror.
The inaugural Terrifier film hit the screens back in 2016 and despite receiving mixed reviews, it managed to carve out a cult following. Its success paved the way for the franchise, with Terrifier 2 hitting the screens in 2022 and raking in a whopping $15.7 million against a budget of $250,000, making it a box office sensation.
Terrifier 3 is slated for release in cinemas on October 11.
Smile 2
Parker Finn’s forthcoming flick Smile 2 revolves around a pop singer who finds herself embroiled in a string of deeply unsettling events as she prepares for her tour.
The film stars Aladdin actress Naomi Scott in the main role, supported by Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Raul Castillo, Dylan Gelula and Ray Nicholson. The inaugural Smile film was released in 2022, garnering generally favourable reviews and achieving box office success, raking in over $217 million against a budget of $17 million.
Smile 2 is set to premiere on October 18.
The Front Room
Pop sensation Brandy Norwood is showcasing her acting prowess once more in the psychological horror flick The Front Room.
She takes on the role of expectant mother Belinda who uncovers her mother-in-law’s secret intentions after moving in with her. Joining Brandy in the cast are Kathryn Hunter as Solange, Andrew Burnap as Norman, and Neal Huff as Pastor Lewis.
The Front Room releases on October 25.
