A Place in the Sun viewers were furious with a couple who shut down a property halfway a viewing.
Channel 4 presenter Scarlette Douglas was trying to find a dream home for buyers Laura and Matt in the Tuscan countryside in Italy with a budget of £180,000. But they ended up ditching it as it was “too remote”.
In the 2021 episode of the show, which returned with its new series on Tuesday (September 10), Scarlette lined up five potential options for the couple. The pair wanted a two or three-bedroom detached property with outside space, beautiful views and the option of a pool.

Initially, the search seemed to be going well as several of them could have been contenders. But the presenter was quickly left stunned after one of the options, which seemed to blow them away at first, was shut down by the couple halfway through the viewing.
Laura and Matt were seen looking around the third property, which was on the market for around £187,500. The dreamy holiday home in the hills had four bedrooms and a lot of outdoor space, which Laura said was “amazing”.
However, despite the property fulfilling many of Laura and Matt’s requests, Scarlette realised the couple weren’t as happy about it as they were with other. “I am sensing that you’re not as elated as you were with the previous one,” Scarlette said.
Matt explained: “I think inside the house it’s really nice. Laura added: “But, I think it’s more that if it was a permanent move then it would be more suitable.”
Matt continued: “It’s really remote. The location is a little bit of an issue. We don’t mind driving to sort of amenities, shops, that’s fine. But, it feels like you come off some very remote roads, down a remote track into the woods. It just feels disconnected.”
Scarlett asked if they wanted to continue the viewing but Matt said: “I think we’ve probably drawn a line on this one.”
Viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their frustration with the pair as they felt they were wasting time on the show. One user said: “Get shown the perfect house. Buy f**k all.”
Another added: “We’ve gone from an apartment being fine to being a definite no in the first 10 minutes.” A third commented: “These two aren’t buying f**k all, what thereafter with that budget and she’s way to fussy.”
