Abbey Clancy hit with career setback as ITV show axed after just one series

Abbey Clancy’s property show has been axed.

Execs at ITV have shelved the format after just one series. The move was decided at top-secret talks over the summer.

A show insider said: “The top brass had a meeting about the show and decided not to continue with it. There are no plans for another series.”

It featured a string of big names to take part including pop singer Heidi Range, model Jodie Kidd, businesswoman Caprice and socialite Jo Wood. And they hoped getting Abbey to host would ensure it was a success.

But it failed to get people talking or pull in big ratings.

The insider added: “The show had everything going for it — celebrities, fancy homes and some gossip. But it didn’t deliver big enough viewing figures.”

ITV chiefs are still keen to work with Abbey on future projects.

A source at the network said: “Abbey is a big star and it’s hoped she’ll do other formats.”

Abbey first rose to fame in 2006 when she was a runner-up on Britain’s Next Top Model. As her modelling career rose, she then got more opportunities on television and married footballer Peter Crouch in 2011.

Two years later, in 2013, Abbey won Strictly Come Dancing along with pro partner Aljaz Skorjanec.
