Amanda Owen makes shock TV return after ‘tough’ split from husband Clive and show ‘axe’

Amanda Owen has made a surprise return to TV following her Channel 5 show axe and public split from ex-husband Clive.

The TV favourite, 49, first shot to fame along with her now ex, Clive and their nine children, on the Channel 5 show Our Yorkshire Farm. But after Amanda and Owen called it quits in 2022, Channel 5 axed the much-loved series.

Amanda and Owen were married for 22 years before splitting. It was claimed last year that they ended things following reports Amanda was having an affair, which allegedly lasted five years, with a web designer some 22 years her senior.

After leaving television, and in another blow to fans, Amanda shut the doors to her famous Ravenseat farm to the public last summer. She has also stayed low-key on social media – but she made a return in January after months of silence.

But this week, Amanda was on screens for a cameo in Channel 5’s A Yorkshire Farm. The show returned for another episode on Thursday (March 7) with Jules Hudson and Helen Skelton.

But Amanda no doubt left viewers stunned when she took part in the show to learn more about foraging. In the programme, she travelled to Saltburn Valley Gardens in North Yorkshire where she met forage walk leader, Lucy.

Sharing her joy at being back in the wild, she told viewers: “Well, I’m really excited to learn about foraging because, of course, it’s food for free. And I’m really fascinated to know what I can find in the woods.”

Back in 2022, Amanda opened up about her split from her ex-husband Clive. The pair confirmed they were splitting but would still work together on the farm and co-parent their children.

Appearing on Lorraine that year, Amanda was asked if life had continued as normal on the farm. She said: “It does. That is reality. It is really tough and it is a really difficult aspect of it to get across. But when you do reality it has to be just that. That means it covers the ups and downs and that can be on any level.

“Life carries on on the farm. Obviously, there is a whole raft of things to do – nine children, a whole heap of animals. We are just working away the same as before. Because at the end of the day our priority remains, of course, to keep everything going.”

In October, it was reported that Amanda and Clive are set to make a comeback to our screens in a new show set to air on Channel 4. The programme started filming back in August and is due to be broadcast this year.

The show, titled Our Farm Next Door, will follow the pair – alongside oldest son Reuben, 19, who also appeared on the family’s Channel 5 show. Amanda, Clive and Reuben will look to renovate a farmhouse close to their farm during the course of programme.

Sources close to the North Yorkshire-based family admitted that she knows she was public enemy #1 when the affair came out. They added that she hopes a new show working together will restore the public’s opinion of her.

Amanda’s ego has taken a battering,” the insider said. “Her popularity fell off a cliff after the affair was exposed. She knows the only way for her to get back on TV — and for it to be successful — is for Clive to be involved and for them to put up a united front.”
