Anne Robinson confirms romance with Queen’s ex-husband with sharp seven-word response

TV legend Anne Robinson has cheekily confirmed her romance with the Queen’s ex-husband Andrew Parker Bowles.

When quizzed on her love life, the former host of The Weakest Link told Saga Magazine: “Yes. Full stop.” but swiftly followed up with a no-nonsense: “Mind your own business.”

Rumours that Anne, 79, and the retired cavalry officer Andrew, 84, were an item. She’s set to dish out advice as Saga’s new agony aunt from June, and she’s been candid about jumping back into the dating scene after over ten years solo.

She told the publication: “I’d been out of the game for so long. And also I don’t drink. If you don’t drink, you’re not as reckless are you?”. She’s all about living on the edge, saying: “I’m a great believer in surprising yourself by taking risks. Personally and professionally. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If the worst that can happen is you get some egg on your face, that’s not terrible is it?”.

Famed for her razor-sharp put-downs and iconic send-off “You are the weakest link, goodbye” Anne ruled the quiz show world from its debut in 2000 until its curtain call 12 years later. On the perks of dating later in life, she quipped: “You’re much more selective about what you’re going to get into a tizz about. Nothing matters that much. You’re not going to change.”, reports the Mirror.

Robinson, who was the first female presenter of Channel 4’s quiz show Countdown and recorded 265 episodes before stepping down in 2022, was previously married to the late journalist and newspaper executive Charles Wilson until 1973. She divorced her second husband, John Penrose, in 2007.

Parker Bowles tied the knot with Queen Camilla in 1973 and they had two children, Tom and Laura, before their divorce in 1995. The King, who was previously married to Diana, Princess of Wales, wed Camilla in a ceremony at Windsor’s Guildhall in April 2005.

Despite their past, Parker Bowles and the Queen have remained on good terms, with the former army officer being among the exclusive guest list for the King’s coronation. The full interview can be found in the June issue of Saga magazine.
