Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have dropped a big announcement about their popular ITV show, Saturday Night Takeaway.
The Geordie duo revealed that the show, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, will return for its final series in 2024 before they take a well-deserved break. The pair are currently hosting the second series of their new game show, Limitless Win, which also airs on Saturday nights on ITV.
They confirmed over the weekend that the current series of the big money winning show, which saw one lucky couple walk away with £1million, had come to an end. Dec told the audience: “That’s it for this week, and indeed for the series, and what a series it’s been. Our biggest ever win, Helen and Charlie walking away with £1 million. Wonderful.”

Ant added: “We’ll see you very soon for Saturday Night Takeaway. Thanks for watching everybody. See you soon!” While an exact return date for Saturday Night Takeaway has yet to be confirmed, fans speculated it could be as soon as next month.
One fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Does that mean… Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway in two weeks’ time?” Another viewer suggested it could start even sooner and asked: “That means Saturday Night Takeaway starts next Saturday night, right?”
Ant and Dec have said they’re taking a break from Saturday Night Takeaway after 20 years. The telly duo, who started the show in 2002, are planning to chill for a bit after their 20th series in 2024.
Ant shared, “Hi everyone, we’ve got some news for you, next year, in 2024, it will be our 20th series of Saturday Night Takeaway. We’ve got some very special look-backs planned as well as some very exciting new items.”
Dec also said, “We’ve also decided that our 20th series will be our last one for a little while. The show takes up such a lot of our year, we just feel that we need a little bit of a breather and the show is going to take a little bit of a rest.”
Talking to The Sun, Ant mentioned, “We love making Saturday Night Takeaway, but reaching the milestone of 20 series seemed like the perfect time to pause for a little while and catch our breath.”
The pair’s decision to stop their hit ITV show might be because they’ve started their own company. They’ve been the nation’s top double act since Byker Grove in the 90s, and now they’re ready for new adventures.
