Antiques Roadshow guest speechless to learn enormous value of family heirloom

An Antiques Roadshow guest was left gobsmacked after being told how much her family heirloom was valued.

On Wednesday (February 16), BBC expert Susan Rumfitt left the guest with her jaw on the floor after valuing her necklace at a staggering figure. The woman brought in a “beautiful” colourful statement necklace which had been passed down in her family for generations.

The high-end jewellery pro told her: “Well, this is definitely a necklace for every outfit that you own in your wardrobe. You would be able to wear it with anything. How did get this into your collection?”

The woman explained how the piece had been her great aunt’s and has since been passed down her family tree. The expert said: “This is absolutely beautiful, isn’t it? We have got an abundance of stones going throughout the necklace…

She then added: “Turquoise, Amethyst, Peridot, and Citrine… It’s something for everybody really, it is just superb.”

After closely inspecting the necklace, she estimated it to be dated back to the late 19th century – which would make the piece hundreds of years old. The BBC presenter then curiously asked the woman if she had ever worn the necklace out herself.

She revealed she had only taken the 20-stone piece out on one occasion. She then revealed the price which left fans to gasp along with the owner. Susan said: “If you did decide to sell it and it went into auction, we would be looking to put a rough estimate between £5,000 and £7,000 on it.”

The woman appeared to be in complete and utter shock after being told her heirloom was worth a whopping four-figure sum. She appeared to be lost for words at the time but took the valuation as good news.
