BBC Breakfast ‘hits new low’ as angry viewers hit out at ‘another no news day’

BBC Breakfast viewers have claimed the programme has “hit a new low”.

Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt were back on the famous red sofa on Thursday (May 30) morning to discuss the biggest headlines from across the globe.

However, fans watching at home were left scratching their heads during the latest instalment of the show as the presenters shared the news that Harry Styles fans are being offered guided walking tours of the Cheshire village where the One Direction star grew up.

Tickets are on sale and the tours start next week where Harries – as they’re known – will be able to walk in the pop sensation’s footsteps, taking in sites such as Twemlow Viaduct, where the singer had his first kiss, and Mandeville’s bakery, where he worked part-time.

The Holmes Chapel Partnership, which created the new walking route, hopes it will help to improve road safety in the area. The not-for-profit organisation has recruited a group of superfans to lead the tours, which will take place throughout the summer.

Ben McCormick, 16, who lives in Holmes Chapel and attends Harry’s old school, is leading the tours and left hosts Naga and Charlie impressed with his local knowledge. However, viewers at home weren’t as interested in the segement.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “#BBCBreakfast Has hit a new low, let’s waste 10 minutes on where Harry Styles had his first kiss.” Another added: “#bbcbreakfast another no news day.” A third person posted: “#BBCBreakfast doing another report about where Harry Styles used to live & people doing a tour #SlowNewsDay #NotNews” A fourth social media user said: “So there’s NO News then?? Is it National Harry Day? #BBCBreakfast.”

One of the first stops on the Harry Styles tour is the bakery where he famously worked at the time he auditioned for The X Factor back in 2010. It sells an array of bread-based goods and is the home of a life-sized cut-out of Styles in his Mandeville’s uniform and fans can take selfies beside it.

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One from 6am
