BBC Breakfast star’s three-word demand to Carol Kirkwood as she shares bad news

BBC Breakfast host Sally Nugent had an urgent question for Carol Kirkwood.

It’s clear Sally wasn’t messing around on Wednesday (July 3) when she hosted the show with Jon Kay. She wanted to know what on earth was going on with the weather, and more specifically, where all the sun had gotten to.

It meant weather presenter Carol was put on the spot immediately when she appeared in the studio to deliver her forecast. Sally wasted no time at all in asking when the warmer weather will return when she welcomed Carol onto the programme.

Getting straight to the point, Sally said: “Let’s go to Carol, who has the weather for us.” She asked her co-star: “Morning, Carol, where is summer?”

Carol and Sally burst out laughing before the meteorologist shared some rather disappointing news. “Hopefully around the corner, Sal, but not the next corner.”

She admitted: “Sal is quite right. It looks like summer’s vanished, doesn’t it? Temperatures are below average for the time of the year, it’s cloudy, it’s wet…”

Carol proceeded to explain that the rainy weather was here to stay for the next couple of days. But she did predict a boost in temperatures next week but admitted conditions remain “changeable”.

It comes after it was revealed BBC Breakfast is being pulled from schedules on Friday (July 4). It’s been taken off air to make way for coverage of the General Election.

BBC One will be covering the election results for a whopping 18 hours as Brits go to the polling booths to decide who will be our next Prime Minister. PM Rishi Sunak of the Conservatives is up against Labour’s Keir Starmer, who is tipped to win a historic majority.

Voting gets under way on Thursday and the BBC’s coverage of the vote count begins at 9.55pm and airs through the night until 4pm on Friday afternoon the following day. And although Breakfast fans may be disappointed to miss out on the programme, it’s not all bad news.

They can tune in to watch one of their favourite presenters, Jon Kay, take to the air to provide updates from the ballot count. He’ll be joined by BBC News presenter Sophie Raworth, who has regularly hosted the News At Six and News At Ten broadcasts.
