BBC Breakfast’s weather presenter, Owain Wyn Evans, is set to join the hosting line-up of Homes Under the Hammer for its 27th series this summer.
The 40 year old will be joining the likes of Martin Roberts, Dion Dublin, Martel Maxwell, Jacqui Joseph and Tommy Walsh on the popular property show. Owain has previously shown his love for home renovation and interior design while presenting Wales’ Home of the Year on BBC One.
In a statement about his new role, Owain expressed his excitement, calling it “a dream job”. He said: “What can I say, I love a transformation dahlings! I’ve renovated several homes over the years and have not been afraid to get my hands dirty in the process,”.
He added: “I love getting inspiration from others and seeing the before and after really does make this a dream job for me. I’ve watched Homes Under the Hammer for years and it is such an iconic show. Now pass me a sturdy boot and a hard hat, I can’t wait to discover more fabulous home transformations with the team!”, reports Wales Online.
The upcoming series will see the Homes Under The Hammer team travelling across the UK, visiting locations such as Canterbury, Cumbria, Aberdeen and Hampshire to renovate unloved properties.
BBC’s Muslim Alim chimed in: “Owain has a real passion for home transformation and a natural warmth which is the perfect combination for Homes Under The Hammer audiences. We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome him to our exceptional team of presenters and I’m confident he’ll add a fresh dynamic to the show that our viewers will love.”
In terms of what fans can anticipate, the experts will delve into a one-bedroom flat in London, which could be worth a cool £1 million – if given the right makeover.
In other news, “Martin sports a vibrant shirt to compensate for a lack of colour in a property in Bishop’s Stortford, while Jacqui checks out a riverside period property that’s been modernised into a family home.”
“Dion grapples with overgrown ivy that’s encroaching on an end terrace in North Wales and Owain will tour Llanelli, Swansea, Birmingham and London meeting landlords and developers who have invested in the properties for various housing purposes.”
