BBC Breakfast’s Jon Kay couldn’t help but tease weather presenter Carol Kirkwood over her optimistic forecast during Tuesday’s show.
The presenter seemed a tad sceptical as he and co-host Sally Nugent handed the programme over to Carol Kirkwood for a weather update.
Jon wasted no time in pointing out the image Carol was standing in front of as viewers saw a sunny sky with just a hint of cloud.
Carol commented: “Some of us will see some blue skies today, there’s some sunshine around. But, there’s also some showers.”
As Carol detailed the day’s weather, which included heavy rain, gusty winds, and a temperature drop, it was clear Jon wasn’t exactly chuffed with the news, reports the Express.
Sally chimed in: “Oh, it’s time for the big duvets Carol!”
While Jon cheekily remarked: “That blue sky was a complete con at the beginning of the weather, wasn’t it?”
Carol, not missing a beat, retorted: “No! No, it wasn’t at all Jon, sunshine and showers. You know what it’s like with showers, we won’t all see them.”
The banter continued with Jon suggesting they always read the fine print back in the studio.
After a day’s absence, Carol returned to BBC Breakfast to deliver the weather scoop, following Matt Taylor’s stint in her usual role on Monday.
This comes as Carol, 62, seemingly took a nostalgic journey back to Scotland, visiting her old stomping grounds.
The BBC celeb took to Twitter to share her journey on the iconic Jacobite steam train, posting a charming snap of her adventure.
Flashing a grin in front of the vintage locomotive, she penned: “Such a treat travelling to Mallaig on The Jacobite steam train @westcoastrail. Never tire of this. Crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct (appears in Harry Potter film) is special as my grandad helped build it many moons ago @WeAreTripsmiths xxx”.
BBC Breakfast continues weekdays on BBC One from 6am.
