BBC Breakfast’s Jon Kay has warned co-star Sally Nugent he has “unlimited access” after sharing a throwback snap of her on screen.
It followed a segment of the show on Race Across The World, the fourth series of which airs tonight (April 10) and was filmed in Asia. It prompted Jon to share an old photo of himself travelling across the Eastern continent, in which he could be seen biking through China.
“Do you want to see a picture I’ve found?” he asked Sally. “This is me backpacking around 25 years ago or something in China. The backpack’s not quite big enough though!”

Sally quipped: “I was just going to say, Jon – you need a bigger bag.” Moving on, Jon continued: “Now Sally said she didn’t have any pictures. Well, you have – here you go.”
An old snap of Sally then appeared on screen of her clinging on to a tree branch. “Oh, where am I?” asked Sally, confused. “This is you – your route was blocked – I think you’re camping in North Wales.”
Sally responded: “Oh okay. I don’t even remember. Well done.” Jon then explained how he sourced the retro shot: “You know when you added me to that group of your friends on WhatsApp? I’ve now got unlimited access to your whole life, Sally!”
Earlier this week Jon broke his silence after a lengthy absence from the show’s red sofa, with various stand-in presenters covering for him during Easter. He has now cleared things up with a social media post, confirming he was simply enjoying some time off.
Jon told fans that he had been on holiday in Cornwall for a few days, sharing snaps on Instagram of a rock, a delicious-looking pasty, his feet clad in muddy walking boots – and a flat tyre. The star said he and his family had a blast on their trip but that they had car trouble and some rather wet weather.
“Bleddy great few days in Cornwall,” he told his fans on the site. “After years of working there as a journalist, it’s so good just to be able to visit for family fun.
“Flat tyre. Rained every day. As you can see, I fell over in a muddy ditch (and then pretended it was a deliberate April Fool – nobody was fooled) but we had a lovely spring break. Hope you’ve been enjoying some time off, too.”
