BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty fumes ‘I was being nice’ after co-star calls her out

BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty was not too impressed after a co-star called her out for her ‘swipe,’

The BBC show returned for another instalment on Saturday (May 11) with Ben Thompson and Naga back at the helm. The pair were on hand to deliver the latest headlines and news from around the world.

But things took an awkward turn when Naga was told to “cut Ben some slack” over his on-air blunder. Prior to watching a segment about squirrels, it seemed Ben fluffed up his words and was unable to say squirrel.

After watching the video, Ben told viewers: “I’ve been practicing.” Naga then chimed in and added: “There is always a word, where one stumbles over.”

TV Sports presenter Chetan Pathak then came to the defence of his co-star Ben and quipped: “It’s early morning alright. Cut him some slack.”

Stunned, Naga didn’t know where to look and replied: “I was being nice! There’s always a word that someone stumbles over.” Referring to Naga being “nice”, Ben joked: “I’m not used to that,” causing Naga to roll her eyes.

She then turned to Chethan only for him to quip: “Naga is always lovely and kind and nice.” He added: “And she’s looking at me now…” The presenter then swiftly moved on with his latest sports news.

In other Naga news, the TV star issued a health update last month, saying she felt compelled to hide the “constant, nagging pain” she feels because of her health condition. The 49-year-old BBC Breakfast star was diagnosed with adenomyosis in 2022, a condition that occurs when the lining of the uterus grows deep into the muscle of the womb.

It can cause pain in your pelvic area, heavy bleeding during your period and other symptoms. Revealing she felt she had to smile through the pain, Naga told Metro: “I have done all my life: through my GCSEs, through my A-Levels, through my degree, and every job I had. No one wants to be seen as weak. I don’t think that now.”
