BBC Casualty fans distracted from Charlie’s last episode as they brand show ‘hard watch’

BBC’s hit medical drama Casualty left fans sidetracked as they couldn’t believe how alike the young actor who played Charlie Fairhead looked to the original actor.

The Saturday night drama aired emotional scenes in the latest instalment as fans were convinced that long-standing character Charlie was about to be killed off. Charlie, played by actor Derek Thompson was stabbed by a patient and was on death’s door.

As his colleagues rallied around him, Charlie experienced flashbacks of when he first started his medical career. But viewers couldn’t believe the resemblance of the actor you played Charlie and how much he looked like the original.

As the medical staff tried their best to save Chalie, things were not looking good. But despite his health dwindling, his staff were desperate to save him.

It looked like it was almost the end for Charlie

Thankfully, despite many viewers labelling the show “hard to watch” while others shared that they were moved to tears, Charlie came around. Near the end of the show, Charlie was a shadow of his former self, as he looked ready to leave the hospital.

Revealing that he was ready to retire, Charlie was celebrated by his staff members who wished him well. As Charlie walked out of Holby City General, fans watching at home were delighted that Charlie’s story ended smoothly.

Heading over to X formerly known as Twitter, one fan wrote: “@BBCCasualty thank you for not killing Charlie off in his final episode which was done so tasteful plus I don’t think I could of dealt with him going out any other way.”

Another also said: “OMG I’m so relieved that Charlie isn’t dead as I’m sure I read somewhere he was going to .. I didn’t want him to leave but if he has to that was the perfect way. The only thing that would’ve made it better is if he drove his car on the Suspension Bridge again.”
