BBC Radio 1 chaos as caller plays ‘sex noises’ down the phone to Greg James

BBC Radio 1’s Greg James’ show was thrown into chaos when a listener played a sex tape live on air.

The presenter had called a listener for his regular segment, Cowboy Time, where he asks listeners the time at 9.50am. They usually respond with: “Ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten.”

But this time, instead of answering the question, the caller played explicit sounds down the phone. Greg quickly ended the call, saying: “Oh, ok.” The prank didn’t go down well on social media, with one listener calling it “crap”. Another said: “Genuinely boring, unimaginative, and tedious now.”

“Radio 1 just got done with the sex noise,” wrote one listener. Another said: “It might be funny initially but this is the third time on national broadcast media… I’m really tired of this prank yes I caught all of them live including what happened at 09.50 today…”

“The resigned disappointment in Greg James’s voice,” shared a fan, adding a broken heart emoji. Someone else tweeted: “Not @gregjames getting done like that on cowboy time.”

Elsewhere on Radio 1, Jamie Laing’s new gig 1 has some fans upset. He’s taking over from Jordan North, who’s off to Capital FM.

One person complained: “No way this is who you replace Jordan with?! This is going to be insufferable driving home from work. Maybe it’s finally time to change station to one with better music.” Another asked: “Is there no up-and-coming presenters that would of liked this opportunity, as opposed to an already rich celebrity? Poor form.”

A third commented: “A funny show just got made unlistenable, poor Vick. If I was her I’d get out quick.” And another decided: “Looks like I’ll be switching stations at 15:30 then”
