Matt Tebbutt had to think on his feet whilst hosting Saturday Kitchen after a series of hilarious gaffes derailed the show.
Saturday’s episode of the BBC cooking show (January 6) saw host Matt joined by doctor and chef Dr Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed and chef Adam Byatt, but none of them expected the chaos that ensued. Just minutes into the broadcast, Mattwas forced to clean up after Dr Saliha shared her three breakfast recipes.
The disarray began with an unlikely suspect: half a lime. Tebbutt was helping his guest by juicing limes, but he accidentally lobbed one across the studio when trying to speed things up for her.

Mortified, the 50-year old joked, “Sorry I am just throwing limes everywhere. I only want half a lime in this… because I threw the other half across the room.”
Both Matt and Adam moved to save the lime, and Michelin star chef Adam accidentally tipped over a glass of fresh water live on air. Trying his hardest not to crack, Matt laughed with his head in his hands.
Realising it was all going wrong, the Buckinghamshire-born broadcaster sarcastically said: “Oh this is going well. Thanks for that, and thanks for the help! Sit down!”
Unphased, Dr Saliha drew the attention away from the mayhem by asking the host if his mixture was thickening. A distracted Matt responded, “Urm… I don’t know… yeah I am just mopping up all the water.”
Dr Saliha went on to share her three breakfast recipes, without any more chaos. The Masterchef-winner showcased a savoury take on the morning’s meal, with beans and sunshine tomato, as well as sweeter option, chia seed pudding.
However, Matt appears no stranger to chaos. The famous foodie made headlines at the end of last year, as one of his guests had a few choice words for his hosting skills.
Celebrity guest Michael Ball decided not to hold his tongue whilst promoting his new book, making a crack at Matt live on air. The hilarious singer told the presenter, “you’re rubbish at this!” to this amusement of the studio audience.
The pair’s banter filled the bellies of the audience with laughter, too, as viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their appreciation. One user wrote, “#SaturdayKitchen Cracking programme today, well done. #LoveAGoodLaugh, whilst another added: “Michael is hilarious!”
Saturday Kitchen airs every Saturday on BBC One.
