BBC Still Game star praises Viagra and admits it worked like ‘magic’ for him in the bedroom

One of the stars of BBC hit Still Game has reflected on his use of Viagra and how it was a game-changer for him and his relationship.

Greg Hemphill, 54, starred as Victor McDade in the Scottish sitcom that looked at a variety of topics being covered by the elderly pensioners. First being aired in 2002, the show aired for a total of 17 years before finally being retired in 2019.

The actor, who is also married to Balamory star Julie Wilson Nimmo, has been happily living in wedded bliss since 1995. However, he admitted recently that he had been struggling whilst getting up to bedroom antics.

Speaking on BBC Scotland’s Jules and Greg’s Wild Swim, Hemphill revealed that he was desperate to find a solution that could work for him. Eventually, he settled on Viagra, and admitted that since taking it, his sex life has never been better.

Known as the “little blue pill”, Viagra helps to treat conditions such as erectile dysfunction in older men. It has been described as a “wonder drug” by doctors, who recommend that patients take the pill one hour before getting raunchy so it can help keep his manhood up.

Opening up on his new show, Greg gushed over the medicine, saying that it worked like “magic” for him and his wife. He also encouraged others struggling with the issue to look in the direction of the drug.

Chatting with wife Julie, who played Miss Hoolie on the smash BBC kids show, Greg said: “I’ll be absolutely honest with you, I’ve admired your honesty up until now where you’ve been talking about the menopause and stuff like that. I think the male equivalent of that truly is [erectile dysfunction], I can’t really put it into words because I get too mortified.”

Signalling the issue by drooping his finger, his wife cut in, saying: “Being in your fifties and stuff like that, these things come up.” Realising her awkward faux pas, the pair erupted in fits of laughter as she admitted: “That was the wrong thing to say.”

Continuing on with his story, Greg recalled when he was recommended the drug by medical professionals. “I remember the first time I ever happened across this wonder drug Viagra and it was magic,” he gushed.

“I’ve got plenty to say about this goddamn thing,” he continued. “I went to the doctors, I said, ‘Hey doctor how you doing? So I was having sex last night and it didn’t…’

He added: “He went ‘ah’; he knew right away what I was talking about and I think in that moment I stumbled into the great unsaid between men and women. I’m here to tell you, get the helping hand.”

Julie admitted that she felt nervous and anxious when he busted out the medication, but realised that it was an important pill to help their relationship. She added that she felt “hurt” by his medicinal help, but since then, she has had no qualms of his taking Viagra to help their sex life.
