Below Deck Captain Glenn Shephard was forced to separate a couple on board.
In an exclusive chat with Daily Star, the reality TV icon recalled his “craziest” career moment, which involved a warring couple who he was preparing to marry. He explained: “It was pretty crazy! I think it probably is the craziest…it might have been our first charter, there was a couple I was supposed to marry. They came on board, I was really nervous.”
Glenn added that it is a “tradition” for captains to marry couples, especially “on cruise ships”: “They asked me to do it, I was super nervous trying to figure it out. Then they had a massive bust up and never got married! I was off the hook, I was like: ‘Yesss!’”

“What happened, I can’t remember if it was the first charter, but they have this massive bust up to the point that I have to go down with Parker and stop them from physically fighting. Turns out, she was attacking him! We thought he was attacking her because we heard screaming. We had to separate them!”
This wasn’t the only time Glenn was requested to marry a couple. Shephard recalled one positive experience that left a smile on his face: “We were in Menorca and I did one. Such a lovely couple, group of people, the whole crew was involved in setting it up on the beach. It was amazing! I had to put my glasses on, it was such an emotional thing. I was honoured.”
“Absolutely crazy. It was a cool thing to be involved in!”
Captain Glenn will be attending the Southampton International Boat Show, where Below Deck fans can meet the man himself and learn more about the industry. Glenn is “looking forward to going back” and revealed that he will “be there on opening day,” 13 September.
“I’m going to be taking part in a ceremony and then I’m doing a question and answer session at 3:30pm, then at 4pm I’m doing a meet and greet at the sparkling wine bar. People can get tickets on the Boat Show website, I’m really excited!”
“A really important thing that the show does is introduce young people to the idea of this industry. It’s more prominent now, but when I started I was like: ‘How do I find this information?’ Is it even a job? Now, because of the shows people can see it.”
