Bond girl had heroin battle that cost her £250 a day and forced her to quit fame

A Bond girl who featured in the smash box office hit Moonraker has admitted that she quietly battled a horrific addiction to heroin.

Vicki Rebecca was seen in the movie that first was shown in cinemas back in 1979. Appearing in the movie’s opening sequence, the glamour model’s silhouette became an iconic image in the film – earning her £1,000 for her stint.

During filming, she was given directions to look as similar to pin-up girl Marilyn Monroe. After the success of the movie, the actress has a whole new career in front of her, as she was able to rub shoulders with a host of famous faces.

But the model, originally from the Scottish city of Aberdeen, later was revealed to have a completely different life that no one knew about. Whilst she made thousands of pounds as a glamour model, she also was described as a “functional” drug addict, spending as much as £250 a day to fund her heroin cravings.

She was so dependent on the narcotic that often during shoots and filming, she would sneak into her dressing room to secretly take the drug. She was only able to get herself off the illegal substance once she left the limelight behind and returned to her family home in north east Scotland.

Later retraining as a psychotherapist, Vicki has now recounted her lavish life in the 70s and 80s in a new memoir titled Naked Truth: Diary of a Glamour Model. In the book, Rebecca reveals that she was one of two women hired for the opening role of the film, which features silhouettes coming in and out of shot.

But behind the scenes of the shoot, Vicki said that the shooting process was less glamorous than people would expect. She added that she would be spending her day jumping on a trampoline wearing nothing but a g-string and make up, even going as far as to jump 18ft from scaffolding into the arms of actor Richard Kiel for a scene that was not even used in the film.

Speaking to The Sun, however, she revealed that she often would be seen “racing to toilets to jack up” as she had become addicted to heroin prior to her filming the box office smash with Roger Moore. In total, she was on set for 10 days, and would be using drugs between takes, but insisted she was “really proud” of what she did, “even if my part was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it kind of moment”.

Following her stint on the film, Vicki was able to land countless gigs as a Marilyn Monroe lookalike. She was able to bad £1,000 a night looking like the sultry film star, even appearing on TV in a sketch in The Two Ronnies.

“I ended up jetting off all over the world and sometimes was met off the planes with bunches of flowers,” she recalled. “I opened supermarkets and nightclubs including one in Reykjavik, Iceland; it was really crazy.”

However, her heroin addiction continued to cause problems, with co-workers admitting that she would “disappear to the toilets for far too long”. In 1987, nearly a decade after her heroin battle began, Vicki returned to Scotland and was able to ween herself off the drug and is now working in hypnotherapy and neurolinguistic programming.
