Britney Spears says she’s ‘moving to Mexico’ as she finalises divorce from Sam Asghari

Britney Spears has finalised her divorce from ex-husband Sam Asghari, it’s reported.

The singer, who turned 43 on Monday (December 2), tied the knot with the 30-year-old model in June 2022. The pair were together for around six years before they decided to get married.

However, their marriage would last just 14 months as Asghari decided to file for divorce. In August 2023, he filed for divorce from Britney and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

And Britney has been declared legally single on her birthday as legal documents obtained by TMZ reportedly state their split became a “done deal”. The divorce was finalised in May, but the waiting period ended just in time for her big day.

The Toxic hitmaker took to Instagram to celebrate her big day, writing in the caption of one clip: “Cheers [cheers emoji] !!! It’s my bday !!!”. She also hit out at members of the papparazzi, who she claims had been “incredibly cruel” to her, and told fans it was why she’s “moving to Mexico”.

Referring to the Friday The 18th character Jason, she said in a clip: “It really hurts my feelings that the paparazzi make my face look like I’m wearing a white Jason mask. It doesn’t even look like me. They’ve always been incredibly cruel to me… the way they’ve illustrated me to be. I know I’m not perfect at all by any means, but some of it is extremely mean and that’s why I’ve moved to Mexico.”

Breaking her silence on the divorce at the time, she admitted she had been “a little shocked.”

On Instagram, she wrote: “As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business!!!

“I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly!!! In some sort of telepathic way, I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you!!!

“I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that!!!. I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses!!!

She insisted she was “actually doing pretty d**n good!!! Anyways have a good day and don’t forget to smile!!!”. Sam confirmed the split in his own separate post, where he wrote: “After six years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together.

“We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. S**t happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”.
