Carry On star Anita Harris has left fans worried for her after a hospital dash.
The comedy actress, 82, was set to head to the Pantomime Awards on Tuesday (June 18), but had to miss out on the star-studded event after suffering a fall on the high street. She offered an apology to her friends – but explained missing the event couldn’t be helped.
Taking to X to explain the situation, Anita said: “Apologies to my fellow panto buddies at the Pantomime Awards this evening. Had a bit of a mishap in the high street, tripped while dodging a child’s buggy but luckily kind-hearted people came to my aid.

“Currently on my way out of hospital, but I’ll be back on my feet in no time. ‘Oh yes I will!’ My love and thanks for all the support, Anita x.”
Fans rushed to wish her all the best, with one writing: “A speedy recovery Anita!” as another joked: “Hope you get better quickly Anita but as Michael Jackson once said, ‘Don’t blame it on the buggy!’”
A third social media user said: “Dear one, sending you all my love and healing energy.” And another fan said: “Wishing you well, Anita. Hope you are back to full strength soon, and you’ll never hear a cry of ‘behind you!’ without a wince at that awful accident. Take care and a speedy recovery.”
Anita has been through a lot in the past few years, with her beloved husband Mike passing away in May 2023 – just days after the pair celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mike had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and Anita released a song to raise funds for research into the condition earlier in 2024.
Speaking of her new song Never Lose Hope, Anita explained: “Music is my life and was the whole of both our lives. Sometimes lyrics can say more than spoken words. This song came through my love for him.”
The Carry On Doctor star added: “I found myself waking up with this song just pouring out of me. ‘Never lose hope’ is something he would always say when he was going through his various health problems, and I think hope is so important.”
Speaking of his initial diagnosis when she was visiting him in a nursing home every day, Anita said: “For those of us who have a loved one going through the different stages of dementia, the pain is overwhelming.

“But if through sharing my darling Mike’s journey I can help even one family from ever having to take on these challenges, then my purpose will be served.”
She added: “Mike used his sense of humour to put people at ease, making light of our fear that his memory was slipping away.”
