Celebrity Big Brother’s Louis Walsh explains real reason he signed up for ITV show

Louis Walsh has opened up about the real reason he’s joined Celebrity Big Brother.

The former X Factor judge says he wants to have a blast after two of his mates’ funerals made him think about just how precious life is. The 71-year old has been joined by his former co-star Sharon Osbourne in the ITV house – albeit temporarily – after thinking about his “own mortality”.

Louis explained: “I don’t want to be in my final chapter, I want to live. I want to enjoy myself. I don’t want to die. But then it makes sense that you get to this age and think, why not? Life’s too short.”

The music boss continued to the Mirror: “I’ve lost some people in my life recently and that changes you. I went to two funerals. Yeah, It’s a reality check, for sure. It makes you think about what life is all about. It makes you rethink what’s important and what you care about. Losing friends makes you think about your own mortality.”

Former Boyzone manager Louis now hopes to make the most of his remaining years once the show ends, meanwhile, adding that he simply wants to “enjoy himself more”. He said: “I want to see the world. Everywhere. I don’t have a bucket list. I don’t like that word. I just want to see the rest of the world. I just want to enjoy life – live, love and laugh.

“I don’t want to be older and think if only I had done that. I don’t want to do that no. There’s no time for regrets. I’m happy. I’m honestly happy at the moment and this has given me an extra nudge to go and enjoy life even more.”

Louis has already been causing drama in the house, not shying away from sharing his opinions and even demanding the best bed, kicking Lauren Simon out with a cheeky “up, up, up”. He later claimed he was joking but kept the bed.

He also caused a stir when he threw best friend and fellow housemate Sharon under the bus by insisting to Zeze that the decision to put her in danger of being up for eviction was all made by The Osbournes star, rather than it being a joint decision.

When asked how he would handle any conflict in the house, meanwhile, he said: “I don’t want any conflict at all. I want to be able to eat and sleep and just do the silly tasks over there. I’ll avoid it. Honestly, I don’t want to get involved. I mean, come on.

“It’s not torture, it’s just people in a house. I will miss my phone. I will miss the TV. I’ll miss the normality. I will miss all that big time. But I think it’s a good thing to try that, isn’t it? I’ve got nothing to lose. People make a big deal out of it but it’s just a TV show.”

Celebrity Big Brother airs every Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
