Channel 5 has reportedly scrapped one of their new gameshows, despite only having one series.
Television execs at the cooperation have decided to put their quizzing programme, Puzzling to bed, according to reports. The daytime show which is hosted by TV historian Lucy Worsley, will not be renewed.
Puzzling required contestants to use their language skills, visual intelligence, lateral thinking and memory to solve a number of different puzzles. In the programme, six competitors form two teams of three and compete for five rounds and then the final two teams go head to head.

However, the gameshow did receive mixed responses from viewers. Some also felt presenter Lucy didn’t have the charisma needed for the role.
Taking to social media site X, one fan wrote: “I adore Lucy Worsley when she’s allowed to be Lucy Worsley. But this quiz thing is painful.” While another added: “C5’s Puzzling is a bad HoG/OC rip-off with a migraine-inducing set design. Anaemic and unengaging.”
But some were disappointed to see the show go. One fan wrote on X: “Noo we liked watching this!” And another chimed: “WHAT I can’t believe it. I loved this on the telle.”
Presenter Lucy previously shared how she felt under pressure to host the new show. She told The Sun: “There are so many things that could go wrong, for the contestants but also for me. I’m under huge pressure to get the question out quickly but correctly. It’s been a real joy, but also terrifying.
“Normally I’m out with a very small crew stuck on a rainy street corner in Edinburgh. I’m not used to working with such a large, complex team in such a big TV studio,” she added.
Before her game show host gig, Lucy was best known to fans for presenting historical documentaries on the BBC. Her programme Suffragettes, which became popular amongst TV viewers, showed Lucy’s journey into the actions of the women who campaigned for the vote as their peaceful protest descended into anarchy.
In additon to this, Lucy fronted British History’s Biggest Fibs. As well as this she also hosted Jane Austen: Behind Closed Doors and A Very British Murder.
