Chloe Madeley fumes ‘there’s no money in TV’ as she slams ‘nepo baby’ claims

Chloe Madeley has slammed allegations she is a “nepo baby” due to her famous parents.

The former TV presenter, 37, hit out at claims that she had got a bigger break in life thanks to her parents Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan. She also said that thanks to her work on social media, she does not need to do as many TV appearances, admitting “there’s no money” in the industry.

Opening up about her life with Loose Women star Olivia Attwood, Chloe said that her booming career in fitness on social media is helping her more than her numerous stints on the silver screen. The influencer went on to say that having fame and being in the spotlight can be far less positive than many may think.

“People see fame as a measure of success and I’m here to tell you that it’s not,” she explained to the Love Island star on her So Wrong, It’s Right podcast. “For any of those kids of famous people who have dipped in and out like I have – the most miserable times of life were when I was in the spotlight.”

She went on to explain that the happiest moments of her life were when she was left to her own devices in the gym, and people should avoid using fame as a way of determining who is successful. Chloe then added: “I’ve made much more money doing what I do now than when I did TV, there is actually no money in TV.

“Unless they get their s**t together and they start getting sponsorships and branding the way that YouTube do, TV’s on its way out,” she added. Chloe herself is no stranger to TV, having presented the likes of Big Brother side show Big Brother’s Big Mouth in 2008, as well as smaller stints on her parents’ talk show until it was cancelled in 2009.

Elsewhere in the interview, Chloe also hit back at critics who accused her of being a “nepo baby” – a child who is given a helping hand into the world of entertainment by their famous parents. While she did admit that having Richard and Judy as her mum and dad did help, it was not the sole cause of having her following.

“It has had a huge impact on me having the audience that I have on social media, which has then allowed me to have a direct audience to market to,” she explained. “No, my parents have nothing with health and fitness, and no, you can’t say that it is nepotistic, but what I can say is because of my career in TV before, I had a built-in audience and that makes whatever I go into next easier.”

Chloe also candidly opened up about her divorce from James Haskell last year. The pair had tied the knot in 2018 but after five years of wedded bliss, they opted to call time on their relationship in October 2023.

In the interview, the model said that due to James’ intense work schedule, things became too much for the couple. The pair continue to look after their daughter Bodhi together, born in 2022.
