Christina Applegate has opened up about a rather embarrassing health woe, confessing she had to resort to wearing diapers after a dodgy salad left her with a nasty virus.
Spilling the beans on her own podcast MeSsy, which she hosts alongside fellow MS warrior Jamie-Lynn Sigler, the actress shared the gory details in an episode aptly named Can I Be Honest.
During the chat, Christina recounted how she started by catching Covid-19 from a mate who “dropped the ball and went to a bowling alley, and came home with the stuff”.

The star then explained the virus morphed into long Covid, causing a chest infection and making her heart do some “weird stuff where it speeds up all of a sudden”.
But after undergoing tests she was also diagnosed with sapovirus, which is notorious for triggering acute gastroenteritis. She elaborated: “It is when you ingest the faecal matter of someone else from your food, someone else’s poop went into my mouth and I ate it.”
She went on to describe the ordeal of being so ill that she was “p*ssing out of my a** for a few days to the point where I was so dizzy”. She added: “I was so sick, I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t [do] anything.”
Christina said she suspects the bacterial invasion came from a takeaway salad from a joint she’s frequented for over a decade, revealing that she woke up “at three o’clock in the morning in a pool of s***”.
She added: “I didn’t know it happened, and having MS at three o’clock in the morning and trying to change your sheets, it’s not fun. But this brings me to my next point, which we can talk about: I’m wearing diapers.”
During an unguarded conversation with Dax Shepherd on his Armchair Expert podcast, Christina also shared an anecdote about a past experiment with mushrooms, which she defined as the “the first and last time” when she was 16 years old, reports US Mirror.
She continued her amusing recollection, explaining that under the influence of mushrooms she and her pal made a sizeable donation to Comic Relief using her dad’s credit card. She said: “My friend Mandy and I, we took some mushrooms, I think I was 16, at her house and we starting watching Comic Relief. This is how long ago it was – people don’t even know what that is – Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Crystal were hosting it.
“We were laughing so hard that we kept calling on the dial phone to use her dad’s credit card to donate money and we did this all night long and we spent like hundreds of dollars and we got in really big trouble.”
