Coleen Nolan has confessed she “begged” BBC bosses for 20 years to compete on Strictly Come Dancing.
The Loose Women presenter – who recently launched her new book A Hand to Hold: All I’ve Learnt About Grief – has always been a fan of the beloved BBC One dance competition. So much so that she has reached out to producers every year to be in with a chance of stepping into her own glittery ballroom outfit.
But the brunette beauty has never been lucky enough to swap out of the ITV studios for the glamorous BBC ballroom. Now, in an interview with Daily Star, the mum-of-three confirmed she has “given up” trying to win over bosses to compete on the show.

She told us: “Strictly is on my bucket list or was on my bucket list, but it’s been on for 20 years. I would have given anything to go on.
“It was the one reality show that I thought, ‘I would love to do that, to do Strictly’. But I wasn’t asked again this year so I’ve given up now, I’m not a*sed.”
She fumed: “I’m not begging you anymore. I begged them every year for 20 years, so I’ve decided they don’t want me, get over yourself and move on.”
Despite being “upset” over her BBC snub, the singer revealed she will still be tuning into the reality show this year. And it appears as though she has already picked which celeb she will be backing before the series returns to the airwaves later this month.
Revealing who she will be backing this year, she confessed: “I think it’s a great line-up this year, I thought, ‘Wow, it’s really good’. And one of my great friends Pete Wicks is on it so I can’t wait to see him on it, I love Pete.”
But Strictly isn’t the only reality show the singer has her eyes on. Coleen confessed that she would jump at the chance to sign up to I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! but doesn’t mind that she hasn’t be asked.
The broadcaster went on: “I’m A Celebrity, I absolutely am such a fan of it to watch. I love watching it.
“It’s the one show that if I was offered – which I haven’t been – but if I was offered, I would do it because professionally I still think it’s the biggest show to do. But I’m never upset that I’m not asked and I don’t get my management to phone and ask them.”
The musician went on to reveal some of her biggest fears live closer to home. She confessed: “If you’d have seen me the other night with the moth in my bedroom, you’d think I was being slaughtered.
“I got under my duvet and nearly asphyxiated myself until my partner got the moth out the room. The first thing I said to him was, ‘Babe I can never do the jungle, I would literally die. I would die’.
“So yeah, I don’t mind that they don’t ask whereas I used to get upset that I wasn’t asked or even have an interview with Strictly, but now it’s whatever.”
Speaking about the launch of her new book, Coleen reassured fans that although it covers a series of devastating topics, there are plenty of light moments in there.
She explained: “Some people think, ‘Oh God, that’s depressing, why would you write a depressing book?’ But what I want to say to them is, some of it’s sad and some of it’s very funny.
“There’s lovely poetry in there, there’s helplines in there. I think it’s a nice book to have on your shelf and God forbid you never have to open it or experience it.
“But the chances are, whether its a hamster or a sister or a loved one of any kind, at some point in your life, you will probably have to go through it. And it’d be nice to have a little book out there where you don’t feel alone.
“If you find it difficult to talk, this can help – I hope.”
