Coronation Street’s Daniel Brocklebank is convinced he’s made a new “soap record”.
The 44-year-old actor has played Weatherfield vicar Billy Mayhew since 2014 and over the last 10 years he’s been part of some gripping storylines from love triangles to drug addiction.
However, some fans may be shocked to learn he’s also played minor roles in rival soaps over the years. In 2002, he played Tim Garrett in one episode of medical drama Doctors and in 2010 and returned in 2014 to play Dave Walker in another instalment.

He landed the regular role of Ivan Jones in Emmerdale from 2005 until 2006 and played Roger Green in two episode of EastEnders back in 2010. In 2014, Daniel joined the cast of Coronation Street as Billy, the new vicar at Emily Bishop’s parish, St. Mary’s, and began dating the barman Sean Tully (Antony Cotton).
The actor logged onto Instagram on Friday (April 26) to ask fans if he’s made “some kind of soap record”. Sharing a picture of himself posing next to a TV screen showing him as Roger in EastEnders, he wrote: “So…. Having arrived in classic @emmerdale four days ago it now appears I’ve arrived in @bbceastenders 2010 this week too. @coronationstreet @bbceastenders & @emmerdale in the same week. Is this some kind of soap record?
One fan replied: “It has to be! Just Hollyoaks and you get a damehood.” Another joked: “Bradley Walsh just called..he says you’re on TV too much!!” A third person said: “Have you been in hollyoaks yet? Lol.” Someone else said: “Time to head over to Ramsey Street, everybody needs good Neighbours.” A fifth person wrote: “Well if you appeared in Hollyoaks you have the full set lol.”
Daniel’s EastEnders character Roger was claimed to be Julie Perkins (Cathy Murphy) and Billy Mitchell’s (Perry Fenwick) son. Billy met Roger and told him this, but Roger denied it. Julie explained to Billy that she could not trace their real son, so fantasised that Roger, her former boss, was their son instead
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
