Coronation Street Ryan star shares plans to quit ITV soap as he returns to cobbles

Coronation Street hunk Ryan Prescott has addressed his future on the soap – and admits he’s excited to do “different things” away from the cobbles.

The actor, who has played heartbreaker Ryan Connor on the ITV soap since 2018, says he initially planned on leaving Corrie after five years. But he changed his mind and decided to stay for longer because he realised ‘how good he’s got it’.

Ryan spoke exclusively to Daily Star about his potential cobbles exit at the TV Choice Awards – just days before his character returned to the soap. Asked how long he plans to stick around on Corrie, he said: “Well it’s been six years now, so I always said to myself I probably wouldn’t do more than five, but then we had Covid and everything changed.

“It’s one of those realities of life, and as I got older, you kind of realise how good you’ve got it. Somewhere where people care about you, people that we work with that make every day different.

He added: “I think that’s the most important thing for me, really. I’d love to go on and do different things, and I do plan to, I’m just not sure”.

Ryan also admitted he’d like to see acid attack survivor Ryan become ‘more grounded’. “If I could choose anything, I’d like Ryan to have a little bit more of a traditional footing, maybe a little bit of grounding. Maybe a real relationship, that would be nice”.

Ryan just rekindled with ex Daisy

Fans will remember that Ryan departed the soap in December after his scandalous affair with Daisy Midgeley was exposed. He left abruptly for a new life in Glasgow as a DJ with Crystal Hyde before they split.

Now Ryan has rekindled his romance with ex Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan). After telling her how he feels, the pair shared a kiss and headed off to the Rovers.

Landlady Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) warned Daisy about rekindling with Ryan, because she believed she was just on the rebound following her split from Daniel (Rob Mallard). It wasn’t too long ago that Daisy cheated on Daniel with Ryan, prompting Daniel to move on with Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon).
