Dancing On Ice star Claire Sweeney says she flashed her bum at skating legends Torvill and Dean.
The soap star was mortified when she had a fall during practice – and only realised hours later she’d ripped a hole in her leggings. Claire, who plays Coronation Street ’s Cassie Plumber, said: “The first time I went on the ice, Torvill and Dean were standing in the middle of this huge rink and there were cameras everywhere.
|I’d got a blow-dry and was wearing bright blue because I thought it would stand out, but as I got on the ice, I went flying, landed on my wrist and hurt it. I thought, ‘If I can carry on with everyone looking at me, that will be a big accomplishment,’ so I got back up and kept skating for half an hour and was so proud of myself.

“Then I glanced in the mirror in the dressing room and saw that my leggings had ripped and my bum had been hanging out the whole time!” Claire, 52, also said she was behind everyone in her practice for the hit show, which starts next Sunday, due to her busy Corrie filming schedule.
She added: “I am two weeks behind everyone, as I had a big storyline on Corrie. I’ve had to play catch-up. Some of the others, like Miles [Nazaire], are looking amazing. I’m getting there with the lifts. The biggest challenge is fighting the fear. That’s what’s happening to me. I do stuff, and then suddenly fear grips me when I least expect it. It’s horrible, but I’ve got to try to shake it off and carry on.”
This new batch of contestants, all hoping they have what it takes to win the impressive ice skating trophy includes Claire, Ricky Hatton MBE, Hannah Spearritt, Amber Davies, Greg Rutherford MBE, Miles Nazaire, Lou Sanders, Ricky Norwood, Adele Roberts, Roxy Shahidi, Ryan Thomas and ski jumping legend Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards.
Olympic ski jumper Eddie was the last to join the Dancing On Ice line-up recently as he replaced Gogglebox star Stephen Lustig-Webb, who dropped out of the ice skating competition due to injury. It comes after former S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt triggered fears for ITV bosses that she will not be able to perform as she allegedly has missed “several” training sessions with professional skater Andy Buchanan.
This 19th series will also see new professionals arrive as well as the return of some familiar faces, but viewers will also say bye to one skating favourite. Matt Evers has departed from the show after 15 series, having been part of the professional line-up since the very first show in 2006.
Karen Barber and Daniel Whiston will also return to the show as Head Coach and Creative Director while the Dancing on Ice judging panel will stay the same as 2023 with Oti Mabuse, Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean returning. Holly Willoughby is set to host the series with Deal or No Deal star Stephen Mulhern joining as her new co-host, replacing Phillip Schofield.
ITV’s Katie Rawcliffe commented on Holly and Stephen teaming up for Dancing On Ice: “Holly and Stephen are two of our best-loved presenters, so reuniting them 20 years after they first appeared on screen together to host Dancing On Ice marks the start of an exciting year for the show.”
Dancing on Ice returns to ITV1 and ITVX on Sunday, January 14
