So, is Lauren who is played by actress Cait Fitton truly gone, or could the real twist be that she’s hidden away somewhere, or even held captive? With the stoy soon coming to a close, Daily Star has taken a look at some of the many theories and possible ‘murderers’ in this chilling plot.
Nathan Curtis
It’s been revealed that Nathan had been released from prison long enough to have encountered Lauren prior to her vanishing. In the coming week, his alibi for the day she vanished crumbles, leading to Nathan being interrogated over Lauren’s murder and arrested for violating his sexual harm prevention order.
Bethany is certain that Nathan is guilty of grooming, abusing and potentially harming Lauren, and he’s wicked enough to plausibly be the perpetrator. But Nathan could also be too predictable as the murderer in this plot?
Daniel Osbourne
Daniel, like Roy, has been accused of being involved in Lauren’s death, repeatedly asserting his innocence. As a Barlow, Daniel is typically seen as one of the good guys, but he does have a fiery temper.
He was Lauren’s tutor and was also quite generous with his money in assisting her. Either he simply wanted to help, just like Roy, or there’s a darker side to him that we haven’t yet seen. Daniel is certainly a more likely suspect than Roy and there also seems to be enough shock factor here for a classic Corrie twist.
Roy Cropper
Despite hardcore Corrie fans knowing and loving Roy for many years, we can’t entirely dismiss the possibility of Coronation Street throwing us a curveball. Although many fans sincerely hope it isn’t the case, Roy is viewed as an eccentric by Swain.
But most locals belive that he would never harm anyone and merely looked after Lauren as he has done for numerous young women over the years, without any ulterior motive. However, when this storyline first started, there was an odd, intriguing scene where Roy was cleaning Lauren’s deserted flat. When he noticed blood stains, he simply continued cleaning the carpet.
But why didn’t the blood alarm Roy, and what does this imply about his connection to Lauren’s fate? Though peculiar, we still can’t imagine gentle Roy being revealed as a killer.
Gang members
Far-right group leader Griff Reynolds is back behind bars in Weatherfield, and he’s threatening Roy’s life to get a confession for Lauren’s murder. But could it be that Griff actually orchestrated her death after she left his wicked gang?
It might seem far-fetched, given there’s no other clear motive for Griff to go after Roy. But what if the real culprit isn’t Griff, but another member of the gang who’s still on the loose?
Joel Deering
Fans don’t know much about Joel, except that he’s a lawyer who cheated on his estranged wife, and they have a young daughter. Joel is currently seeing Roy’s lawyer, Dee-Dee Bailey, and next week he agrees to represent Nathan.
Despite this, Joel also represented Lauren last year in court when she was arrested for criminal damage. She later confessed that she had an older boyfriend who showered her with expensive gifts and possibly left her with concerning bruises.
We’re still in the dark about who this man was. Could it be that Joel has been Lauren’s boyfriend all along?
